Molly Crawford
Biography
Molly Crawford is a native of Reading, PA and relocated to Pittsburgh when she chose to attend Duquesne University. At Duquesne she studied Music Education and piano under the direction of Mr. Kenneth Burky. During her time at Duquesne she was also a member of the Pappert Women's Chorale and studied vocal education. She received her Bachelors of Science in Music Education in May of 2016. As a certified Pennsylvania teacher she worked in the Pittsburgh Public Schools teaching general music and choir to grades Kindergarten to 8th grade. Beyond teaching music at PPS she has also taught private voice and piano lessons at the Sunburst School of Music. She is constantly working on improving her skills as a teacher through workshops and professional development.
Her philosophy on teaching revolves around the concept that every child can learn, has the right to learn, and deserves to learn. In order to achieve this she varies her teaching to the adjust to the needs of the student using the Gordon Music Learning Theory and the methods of Kodaly, Dalcroze, and Orff-Schulwerk. These methods help to reach the learning styles of all students. She pushes her students to always try their best and to never give up.
She has experience working with private students of a wide range of ages from 4 to adult and abilities including autism and developmental disabilities.
